A little about me . . .
Born and raised in the beach town of Leucadia, California I have always been drawn to a laid back lifestyle focused on happiness, health and wellness. I love the outdoors so taking care of myself through the most natural ways possible has always been important to me since I was young. Growing up, I knew that when I became pregnant one day I would want to give birth naturally, however I was fearful of the process and doubtful of my ability to birth without medical interventions.
After earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at UCSB and travelling and living abroad for sometime, I met the father of my boys and moved back to Leucadia to welcome the birth of our first child. After completing the HypnoBirthing® course my previous fears about pain needing to be an anticipated part of the birthing experience were dispelled. I left feeling confident, well prepared and excited for our baby’s birth.
Giving birth to our son was the most beautiful and empowering moment of my life. I had no idea at the time that this one moment could dramatically change my life in such a positive way. My HypnoBirthing® experience was so wonderful that I found myself frequently sharing my story with others which lead me to becoming a Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner.
In addition to HypnoBirthing®, I am also a Certified Hypnotherapist under the National Guild of Hypnotists. I bring a deep understanding and knowledge of hypnosis to each class, showing how it can strengthen and empower each of us by releasing old habits and fears that lie within our subconscious minds. Couples leave my class with skills they can use throughout not only childbirth, but their daily lives as well.
I would be honored to have the opportunity to guide you and your birthing companion through your pregnancy and help in preparing you for a beautiful birth. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at any time.
All the best,
Why I teach HypnoBirthing®
The most empowering moments of my life were giving birth to my two boys. I felt so fully connected; to my baby, to my spirit, and to my ability to bring a child into the world the way my body intended. I couldn't imagine having done it any other way.
I knew when I became pregnant I wanted to experience the moment of birth for exactly what it was without any distractions. My journey for an unmedicated natural birth led me to HypnoBirthing®, a childbirth method which gave me the confidence to believe in myself and the ability of my body to birth without drugs so that I could focus on the beautiful union with my baby.
Using the HypnoBirthing® techniques, and with my birthing companion by my side I was able to give birth to both of our boys the way I had always desired. In June of 2010 our first son was born in just over 5 hours. When I first went into labor I was so relaxed I didn't even realize it was really happening! From there my birth progressed smoothly and calmly just as I had envisioned, and I was able to birth our 8lb 3oz, 23" son naturally, in a relatively short amount of time and with minimal discomfort throughout the birth. I was elated! Holding our son in my arms for the first time and being able to bond instantly with him was the most beautiful moment of my life. I was so grateful to HypnoBirthing® for preparing me to believe in myself and my ability to birth.
In December of 2014 our second son was born. Feeling even more relaxed this time and beginning my HypnoBirthing® practice right from the beginning of my pregnancy I knew my birth would be easy, and I was right! I was able to give birth to our 8lb 7oz, 20" son in less than 2 hours and without any medication. My mind and body were so focused on what they needed to do that he arrived very quickly, only 25 minutes after I arrived at the Tree of Life Birth Center!
To this day, I cherish my birth experiences as the most sacred moments of my life. I believe that every healthy woman has the ability to birth naturally and if given the right tools and education, she can do so easily and often without pain.
There is still little known about the long term effects of pitocin, epidurals and other drugs on mothers and babies during birth. I encourage mothers to go into their birth with the intention of having a natural birth and a positive, beautiful journey. Regardless of what path their birthing may take, they can embrace the outcome knowing they have done everything possible to prepare for this moment.
My vision for teaching HypnoBirthing® is to help empower parents to create the birth experience they desire for their family, whatever form that may come in, so that they may welcome their baby into the world with serenity, joy and love.
